ICC Lacks Common Sense
Looking at the way cricket is run and governed over last few years, I completely agree with Ian Chappel, Tony Greg and Michael Holding who recommended dissolving ICC and forming a new independent body by a common vote of current players, and by experts.
I am surpirsed at the way the scheduling is managed, how sledging and umpiriing disputes are handled, and how rubbish like IPL is promoted when ICC has been mute witness to the decline of One-Day cricket. It is not that ICC has not been doing anything – Subsitutions were tried a couple of years back and were eventually scrapped. It happens because ICC always lacks vision. More so, because it is being run as a business, by the people who are blind to growing needs of bringing calculative innovation, while preserving the traditions of game. Lest, it should lose in the glamour of Modi’s or Stamford’s world, much to the dismay of common man, the ultimate respectable entity that matters most.
